Former BTOB member Ilhoon was recommended a sentenced of four years in prison by the prosecutor.
On the afternoon of May 20, the second trial of Ilhoon, who is suspected of violating the Narcotics Control Act (marijuana), was held at the Seoul Central District Court.
On this day, the prosecutors are requesting Ilhoon to serve four years in prison and pay a supplemental fine of 133 million won (about 117,481.91 USD).
Il-hoon is suspected of purchasing 820 grams (about 1.8 pounds) of marijuana and smoking it from July 2016 to January 2019 by sending about 130 million won (about 13 million yen) 161 times from a drug broker along with six acquaintances.
At the trial, Il-hoon said, “I’m deeply sorry. I was under a lot of stress while working as an entertainer, and I decided to relieve it in a wrong way,” he said, appealing for redress.
Ilhoon, who has been on substitute duty as a member of the Social Service since last May, left the group in December after he was suspected of smoking marijuana.
The case will be decided on June 10.
